Arlene J. Case

About this artist:

Arlene Case was born in England to West Indian parents. She spent most of her childhood, however, on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. It is this rich Caribbean heritage that she employs to render pride and affection to her works.

A self-taught artist, Arlene began painting as a child. When still quite young, her family emigrated to Canada. Moved by the fact that images representational of her background and culture were rare where she grew up, Arlene decided to reproduce on her canvases the virtues and conditions that were reflective of her own heritage. She believes that it is significant that all children have accessibility and exposure to images that are reflections, not only of their lives as they are now but also of past generations.

She has successfully aimed at transmitting emotion and creating a unique poetic vision. Always opting for freedom, she states, "I am always changing and experimenting as a human being, and this is reflected in my work." And although her subjects and styles are diverse, the ultimate goal is to create images that stimulate and move those who see them. This she accomplishes with her favorite media which are pastels, oils, and acrylics.

As a result, her artistry now graces the walls of galleries throughout the United States, Canada, England, and the Caribbean. Over the years she has maintained a loyal following of collectors and has representation in permanent collections. Arlene has done a variety of commissioned work and presently has some on television.

She currently resides in Montreal, Quebec where she operates a company which publishes and distributes Fine Art reproductions.

To explore the paintings of Arlene Case is to step into a place of vivid imagination, a world of color and line. She is an artist who has a selection of work that is sure to delight the eye and stimulate the imagination.
